Since 1944 the Riverside Hotel has provided lodging for traveling musicians. It was home to some. Before the building served African Americans of the Delta as the G.T. Thomas Hospital. Blues singer Bessie Smith died here in 1937 from injuries sustained in a car accident while traveling to Clarkdale for a performance.

  1. That's a great room! I was fifty one years old when I died in Sanary-sur-Mer, which is a city in France. I'm sorry you died at a young age, as well. But even with a short life, you left a really amazing legacy!
